Liam Gallagher’s fiancee wanted to keep a giant Arsenal tribute in the grounds of their new home.
The Oasis frontman and his partner Debbie Gwyther splashed out on an eight-bedroom property near Cirencester, Gloucestershire, last year and while the rocker, who is an avid Manchester City fan, pledged to have the two giant cannon statues removed from outside the front door as early as possible, he was overruled.
But sadly for Debbie, the house’s previous owner, former Arsenal captain Tony Adams, planned to take the cannons – which mimic the ones outside Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium – with him to his new home anyway.
Tony told FourFourTwo magazine: Liam’s lovely and Debbie’s great. She’s an arsenal fan. Stevenage girl, her sister Katie as well. They’re great Arsenal fans.
“Liam went, ‘They’ve got to go. But Debbie said, ‘No, they’re staying here.’
“I said, ‘They’re not staying. They were coming with me!”
Tony joked he’s now more famous for selling his house to Liam than for any of his sporting achievements or work with those affected by addiction.
He said: “I was at a do recently. We’d been talking for an hour and 10 minutes about Arsenal and addiction, and all this serious stuff.
“Then this 12-year-old lad comes up to me and says, ‘Oh… you sold your house to Liam Gallagher’ and I thought, ‘Is that what I’m known for now?’ ”
The property, in the village of Coates near Cirencester, includes five acres of land, a swimming pool, tennis courts, stables and a separate two-bedroom cottage.
Liam completed the purchase in December after relocating to neighbouring Stroud in 2024, where he had been renting a mansion while Oasis prepared for their reunion concerts.
Following reports of the purchase, Liam addressed local residents on X.
He wrote: “To all the BEAUTIFUL people from the cotswolds I come in peace you won’t even know I’m there I’m not like all those divvy celebrities who like to show off I’m LO FI as you were LG x.”
The Live Forever rocker has also told of how much he enjoys living a quiet life in the area.
He told The Sun newspaper: “People round here mind their own business, and I mind mine. I’m not out every night, and I’m not doing anything dodgy.
“My neighbours have been lovely. One of them bakes us cakes, and if I’m in the pub they’ll buy me a drink.”
