Die-hard Eagles fans are preparing for their worst nightmare to come true on Saturday as the reality of a maiden Dockers premiership creeps ever closer.
For those rusted on West Coast supporters who can not bear watching it unfold, we have a compiled a list of 10 things to do in Perth and surrounds that will allow you to totally switch off from the game.

10 things to do in Perth for Eagles fans who can’t bear watching Saturday’s AFL grand final
1. Perth Royal Show
The first thing on this list just has to be the Royal Show, though we can’t promise you won’t cop a glimpse of the action on the big screen after lunch.
Buy a Bertie Beetle showbag, pick a ride, and do a lap of the Claremont Showgrounds for every Eagles premiership you have celebrated.
2. Everlasting Kings Park Festival 2026
Spring is springing in Perth, with a festival dedicated to WA’s unique flora and fauna taking place at Kings Park.
From 10am, award-winning oil painter Mia Laing will be hosting an artist meet and greet from at the Aspects of Kings Park gift shop for roughly five hours. Get cultured while reminiscing over all those grand finals that did not feature the Dockers.
3. Pink Pop Party Perth at The Rechabite
The Eagles girlie / Swiftie venn diagram intersection will be popping off on Saturday, with a dance party celebrating Taylor, Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo kicking off at The Rechabite from 1pm.
As the queen has just dropped new music, expect lots of glitter, dancing, and pink (NOT PURPLE)! Tickets required, with children welcome.
Keep the party going at The Court with a Swift-themed trivia night and dance party.
4. VIVA! Bottomless at FARRA Terrace
Ditch town altogether (sort of) and head to the Med at FARRA for a bottomless brunch out of the new Hyde Perth hotel.
Think Turkish-inspired brekky bites and Mediterranean meze from the terrace, plus cool drinks and a DJ wash it down. Runs 11:30-1pm, so maybe add a second stop after this one. And do not forget to book.
P.S. they will be screening the game on a big screen below the terrace so maybe bring some ear plugs.
5. Day at the movies
If you still haven’t seen The Odyssey, you could start it at midday (at select cinemas) and miss almost the entire game.
Hiding out in a cinema with an oversized popcorn box in your lap and a slushie in your cup holder will make you feel a million miles from the MCG, not to mention South Terrace.
But you may need to dodge a few kids at the candy bar, early arvo is family o’clock at the movies.
6. Go for a Hike
Get lost, seriously. Drive into the woods where only the trees can hear you scream, and switch off.
You may get wet, but you’ll likely enjoy a peaceful nature high without the pitter-patter of approaching hikers and picnickers — and certainly no snarky Dockers fans.
Some favourites include Lesmurdie Falls, Whistlepipe Gully, John Forrest National Park, or even the Bibbulmun Track.
7. Play a round of golf
Saturday tee times are notoriously hard to secure, but surely this one will be an exception.
Try any of the courses you can never get into, and be sure to don an Eagles cap as you swing proudly in denial of your team’s 2026 ladder position.
8. Bottomless Mexicana brunch at Neon Palms
Chicos y chicas! From 12:30-2pm, fill up on Mexican tostadas and electric blue Neon Margaritas as you toast to the future reign of the mighty Eagles.
Then, stay for an arvo sesh for steamy summer vibes and 80s Miami beats. Tickets required.
9. Retail therapy
Think of all those grand final travel dollars saved! Mosey into your local revamped shopping-dining complex and drop anchor for the . . . uh, enjoy a day out on you.
Splurge on those blue and yellow Nikes you’ve had your eye on, grab a bite at the food court or sushi train, and do a bit of people-watching. The best part: no Dockers nuffies.
10. Re-watch the 2018 AFL grand final
There’s no losing on the last Saturday in September when the ball is in the safe hands of Dom Sheed.
All that stands between you and premiership glory is the couch, the TV, a bevvy or two, some loyal mates, and four quarters of entertaining yet entirely predictable footy.
Or for a real treat, why not wake up early and kick off proceedings with the 1992, 1994, and 2006 flags.
