Jay Singh Rathore, whose name began trending on X after questions were raised over an online fundraiser for his younger sister’s alleged eye treatment, has now been arrested by Agra Police in Uttar Pradesh.
In a post shared by the official X account of Police Commissionerate Agra, a complaint was received against an individual identified as Ajayveer Singh alias Jai Singh Rathore.

The police said that he had falsely claimed that his 12-year-old sister was suffering from an eye condition, prepared forged treatment documents and collected money from the public through crowdfunding.
The Bah police station took cognisance of the complaint and registered a case under relevant sections before arresting the accused. Further legal proceedings are underway.

The arrest comes days after Jay Singh Rathore’s X account attracted widespread attention over a fundraiser that he had presented as an appeal to save his younger sister’s eyesight. Several of his posts related to the fundraiser have since been deleted.
According to claims circulating on social media, Jay had introduced himself as a 16-year-old boy seeking donations for his younger sister’s urgent eye surgery, saying she was at risk of losing her eyesight.
His first post featured an image of an Aadhaar card along with payment details as he appealed to people to contribute towards her treatment.
Within 24 hours, he claimed to have raised enough money and shared a screenshot showing that Rs 1,58,282 had been collected. He later said he had deleted the posts because he had received sufficient donations and did not want people to contribute any further.
However, the fundraiser soon came under scrutiny after the medical documents shared alongside the appeal were examined by Shroff Eye Centre, which Jay had identified as the hospital treating his sister.
The eye centre shared screenshots of the appeal and the medical documents on Instagram and warned that someone had created a fake patient, prescription and estimate sheet using its letterheads. It urged people to be cautious and share the warning to prevent others from becoming victims of the alleged deception.
The development prompted donors to confront Jay during X Spaces. During one such interaction, he said the money was actually intended for his father, who he claimed had been undergoing treatment for the past two years.
The episode also left donors seeking clarity over the money they had contributed. In a post shared on September 23, Jay said he would return everyone’s money, claiming there was a temporary bank limit on his account and asking people to wait.
The latest police action has now added a new development to the controversy, with the Agra Police stating that the accused was arrested after a complaint over the alleged false medical claims, forged documents and crowdfunding.
