Jo Wood warned her children not to steal Keith Richards’ cocaine.
Ronnie Wood’s ex-wife has revealed the Rolling Stones star’s bandmate was a regular visitor at the family home while they were married and she had to tell her young kids not to touch the guitarist’s drugs after he racked up “massive lines” of white powder on their coffee table during an overnight stay.
Jo, 71, told The Times newspaper: “I remember Keith was staying with us and he was stretched out on the sofa with a bottle of Jack Daniel’s and all these massive lines of coke on the coffee table.
“I took the kids to one side and said: ‘That is Uncle Keith’s. Don’t you dare touch it’.”
Jo – who had two children with Ronnie before they divorced in 2009 as well as a son from a previous marriage – went on to reveal her daughter Leah, now 47, didn’t listen to her and she once flushed her dad Ronnie’s drug stash down the toilet.
She said: “Leah always said I had a certain look in my eyes; when she saw that, she knew I was being serious. Mind you, she did flush the whole of Ronnie’s stash down the toilet. Ooh, he went mental.”
During the interview, Jo admitted the former couple often had drugs and alcohol in their house and they regularly took the youngsters out to parties with them.
However, Jo is adamant the kids were raised well and she was “strict” with them as she didn’t tolerate any swearing or bad manners. She also explained her children got to enjoy some perks from their dad’s fame – including a visit from Superman star Christoper Reeve.
She told the publication: “Being married to a Rolling Stone meant that even regular days were a little bit mad. Christopher Reeve was staying over one night and the kids came into the kitchen open-mouthed.
“‘Mum, Superman is asleep in the spare room. Why hasn’t he got his suit on?’ ‘Because he’s having a morning off. He’s going to save the world after breakfast’.”
In the interview, Leah told her side and revealed she didn’t relish in her dad’s fame because she was often teased by her schoolmates about it.
She said: “I suppose that’s how life has always been. Normal, normal, normal, then Dad, Keith or Mick [Jagger] turns up and everything gets weird. Even at school, as soon as girls realised who I was, the horrible teasing started.
‘Like most kids, I tended to just get on with life. But then something would happen and you realise you’re living in a parallel universe.”
