A truck driver has been rushed to hospital via helicopter after two semi-trailers crashed on the Bruce Highway, trapping one person and causing significant delays for motorists.
Emergency services, including a crew onboard a helicopter, responded to the crash about 1pm on the Sunshine Coast at Banya, in the southbound lanes, where one person was trapped.
Police were on the scene working to divert traffic. Multiple ambulance and fire crews were also responding to the incident.
One witness said a crane truck had crashed into the back of a Linfox truck.
“The traffic was slowing and the truck tried to brake, and he swerved to the left to try to avoid the truck in front,” the woman said.
“But he didn’t, and crashed into the back of him.”
As of 2.50pm, the traffic was moving again on the highway.
