Three people were killed and four others injured after an argument escalated into gunfire at an after-hours strip club in Detroit early Sunday morning, police said.
Officers rushed to the scene following reports of a shooting at 7:21 AM (local time) on a largely residential street. Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison said police found three men who had suffered fatal gunshot wounds.

Four other victims, including two men and two women, were taken to nearby hospitals in private vehicles. Bettison said all seven victims are believed to be between 20 and 39 years old.
FIGHT ESCALATED INTO DEADLY GUNFIRE
According to police, the shooting followed an argument inside the establishment. Bettison said the confrontation quickly turned violent, with those involved using guns to settle the dispute.
“A fight occurred, an altercation occurred, and as a result individuals decided to settle it with gun violence,” he said, as quoted by Associated Press.
The shooting took place at a location already known to Detroit police. Bettison said officers had received seven calls connected to the address this year, although he did not provide details about those previous incidents.
“This address is not new to the Detroit Police Department,” he said.
Bettison described the venue as an after-hours establishment and compared it to a strip club while speaking about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
“This was an after-hours location,” he said of the shooting scene. “Imagine a strip club. I’ll leave it at that.”
POLICE SAY THEY HAVE LEADS
Investigators have leads in the case, Bettison said, but he declined to disclose further details as the investigation continues. The circumstances that led to the initial argument, as well as who opened fire, remained unclear from the information released by police.
Detroit Mayor Mary Sheffield appealed to people who may have witnessed the confrontation or know something about the shooting to come forward.
“We know that we need more people to speak up to bring justice to the situation,” she said at the news conference. “It’s heartbreaking and our community should not suffer from this type of violence.”
Police are continuing to investigate the shooting and determine what led to the deadly confrontation.
