The daughter of an acclaimed Australian Olympian has been involved in a shocking motorcycle crash in Bali.
Michael Klim made a name for himself in the early 2000s as one of Australia’s strongest swimmers — with the Polish-born athlete having won two Olympic gold medals and seven World Championships through his career.
On Sunday, fans were stunned after discovering his oldest child, 19-year-old Stella, had been injured after being thrown from a motorbike while on the Indonesian island.
Her mother, former model and Balinese royal Lindy Klim, said the crash was caused by Stella having an epileptic fit mid-ride.
“My poor baby suffered a seizure while on the back of a motorbike,” Klim wrote to her 116,000 Instagram followers.
“Luckily, she was wearing her helmet and I was two minutes behind her . . . I found her on the side of the road.”
The entrepreneur revealed that bystanders had raced to help her daughter in the moments before she got to the scene, which she describes as the “scariest few minutes of my life”.
“She had a seizure on the back of the bike and came off pretty banged up — gravel rash everywhere,” the 47-year-old mum wrote.
Stella underwent medical treatment at the family’s Balinese home and is said to be doing better.
A picture shared of the injured teen showed her standing with a large square of gauze covering her right buttocks and upper thigh.
Lindy finished her public posts about the situation by offering her gratitude to the Balinese locals who were so quick to help her child after the crash.
“The way this community shows up for strangers is really something else,” she wrote.
“I love Bali.”
The shocking incident comes just five days after Stella publicly revealed her epilepsy diagnosis.
The teen shared an eight minute long video to TikTok on Wednesday talking about her experiences with epilepsy and the fear she has experienced due to her seizures.
“If sharing my journey makes even one person feel a little less alone, then it’s worth opening up,” she wrote to her 5000 followers.
“I never ever want epilepsy to run the show.”
