A major western Sydney road is closed in both directions as emergency services urgently respond to a building fire.
Canterbury Rd has been completely shut off between Haldon St and Dennis St in Lakemba, as at least half a dozen Fire and Rescue NSW crews respond to a building fire.
Footage taken from the scene shows rows of firetrucks and police vehicles with lights flashing lined up along Canterbury Rd as morning commuters are forced to divert themselves around the incident.
Commuters are being urged to use an alternative route and allow extra travel time.
Lighter vehicles can use local streets to divert, and heavy vehicles have been urged to use Punchbowl Rd, the Georges River Rd or the M5 Motorway.
Smoke in the area may affect visibility.
