A former West Coast Eagles player has allegedly been caught with child abuse images on his mobile phone.
News24 reports Laurie Bellotti, 50, was arrested in July following a burglary in Perth’s north and was charged with home burglary with intent and breaching a restraining order.
Police allegedly found images depicting child nudity on his mobile phone.
Bellotti played 24 games in the AFL for West Coast throughout 1999 and 2000.
He started his football career in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) playing for the Claremont Colts in 1998 and played a season at West Perth in 2001.
He went onto play in the Northwest Pilbara Football League with the Karratha Falcons.
The former AFL player has been remanded in custody at Hakea Prison after he pleaded guilty to offences related to the July burglary incident last week.
Those matters will be heard again in the Perth Magistrates Court on January 19 next year.
He has also pleaded guilty to one charge of possessing child exploitation material and will be sentenced in the Western Australia District Court on November 12.
He is yet to enter a plea to a second charge of possessing child exploitation material, which will be heard in the Perth Magistrates Court on January 12 next year.
Bellotti will also face the Mandurah Magistrates Court after he pleaded guilty to eight counts of breaching a restraining order, but not guilty to stalking and using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence.
Those matters are due to be heard on October 13 this year.
