Lauren Jauregui has insisted she doesn’t “give a f***” when she’s trolled about her weight.
The 30-year-old singer, most famous for her role in Fifth Harmony, has attracted cruel comments about her body size in recent months.
However, as she appeared at the MTV Video Music Awards over the weekend (27.09.26), Lauren responded to the scrutiny, and said she couldn’t care less what people say about her.
She told E! News: “Honestly, I feel like it’s punk as f*** to not be a twig right now, and that’s kind of where I’m at.
“I am a woman. I fluctuate like all women do.
“I think I’m beautiful.
“And I think that when you’re centred on something bigger than people’s opinion of you and like external validation, I really feel like my aura, my light comes from within.”
Lauren continued that she’s “still doing my thing, and I’m still a star”.
She added: “I think I’ve grown and matured to a point where like the hatred doesn’t really phase me. Because I’ve realised a lot of what people get online when people get online to be to like wield vitriol, it’s usually because they hate themselves, and they are not doing better than you.
“So, I don’t really give a f***.”
Lauren also revealed she was recently diagnosed with polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS), the symptoms of which can include weight gain, irregular periods and excess facial or body hair.
She added: “Not a lot of people like to talk about [it].”
A clip of Lauren’s interview was shared by E! News on their Instagram page, with people quickly taking to the comments section to praise the Fifth Harmony star.
One wrote: “GURL, YOU ARE A GODDESS. Lauren is gorgeous, talented, and overall a badass. I support her, and I’m very inspired by her.
“Beauty doest have a waistline limit, TELL THEM DIVA!”
As another added: “As a huge Lauren fan who was rooting for her on Dancing With the Stars, it was hard not to see the CONSTANT body shaming this girl was experiencing.
“So this being her response I think is appropriate.”
While a third commented: “I love her thought process and, especially, the confidence she has in herself without seeking anyone’s validation. The message of positivity is wonderful and something the world could certainly use more of.”
However, there were also those who called Lauren out for body shaming herself, due to her use of the word “twig” to describe slimmer people.
