A dentist who sexually abused three young women, after he touched them under the ruse of a “skin check” or massage, has been bravely confronted by one of his victims inside a Sydney court as she tearfully detailed the fear, anxiety and pain that she carried every day.
Maged Fouad Farag, 62, sat in the dock in Sydney’s Downing Centre District Court on Tuesday as he prepares to learn his fate having admitting to molesting three young women over five years.
In 2024 a woman came forward and made a complaint to police that Farag – who operated two successful dental surgeries in Sydney – sexually touched her inside one of his clinics.
Two further women came forward when they saw media reporting, and earlier this year Farag pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual touching relating to three victims.
One count of intentionally recording an intimate image without consent will also be taken into account when he is sentenced by Judge John Pickering next week.
The court was told that it was the Crown case that Farag touched the women for his own “sexual gratification”.
Farag sat in court on Wednesday as one woman read a victim impact statement, choking back a constant stream of tears as she told the court how she at times could barely function.
“There are still days when I feel emotionally frozen,” the woman said.
“Nothing prepares you for something like this.”
She said that at the time she was a young woman attempting to make her way through the world and it had affected how she sees herself.
“I didn’t deserve what happened and no one does,” she told the court.
She further told the court: “I refuse to let it silence me anymore.”
Judge Pickering told the woman that when she reported the matter, it directly led to two more victims coming forward and allowed them to receive justice.
The court was told that Farag abused the women in similar circumstances and Judge Pickering described his pretence as a “ruse”.
The women were between 19 and 25 during the offences.
According to court documents, during a “massage”, Farag touched one woman on the inner thigh and genitalia.
When she asked why he was touching her there, he said words to the effect of: “one of the most important (pressure points) is inside the vagina”.
A statement of agreed facts tendered to the court detailed how he abused one woman after he told he needed to take photos of her with her clothes off for “skin checking”.
On a later occasion he again asked her to undress and touched her breasts, inner thigh and genitalia, and sucked on her nipple, the court documents state.
She reported the matter to police the following day.
The court was told that Farag was found guilty of similar offences in 2002.
He pleaded not guilty but was found guilty following a hearing, the court was told on Wednesday.
Some charges were quashed on appeal but he was still found guilty of three counts of aggravated indecent assault on a 17-year-old girl.
Farag will be sentenced next Friday afternoon. He will remain on bail until then.
