Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live on Saturday (03.10.26) night.

The 36-year-old pop superstar – who last appeared on SNL in October 2023 when she introduced musical guest Ice Spice, and previously guest hosted in 2009 as well as making multiple appearances as the show’s musical guest – popped up during her friend Dakota Johnson’s opening monologue, which was largely focused on her history of dating musicians.

Guest host Dakota, who was recently romantically linked with Machine Gun Kelly, having previously dated Role Model following the end of her eight-year relationship with Coldplay’s Chris Martin, noted she had supportive friends who “don’t judge me for dating these men.”

She then introduced the audience to her “literal therapist”, prompting Taylor to walk out on stage.

The Fate of Ophelia singer said: “I’m not your therapist, actually.

“You just show up once a week at my house with an empty bottle of wine and ask if I want some.

“You flop on my couch and overshare, and every so often I just say, ‘Damn, that’s crazy.’”

The gag ended with Taylor noting she sends her pal home with a “Pedialyte” – a rehydrating drink – and a security escort.

Dakota also gave a nod to Taylor’s husband, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, when she noted her dating life had taken her to “England and parts of Ireland and Cleveland”, prompting her friend to shout, “Woo-woo!”

Taylor’s cameo came after Dakota recently appeared in her new music video for Patient Zero alongside Colin Farrell and Cara Delevingne.

And the Verity actress recently hailed her friend a “true visionary” and admitted it was “special” to work with her on the video.

She told Extra: “It was so special … We’re so close and to be able to work with your friend and have it actually go well and then also, like, feed each other’s creative minds … She’s such a good director and she’s a true visionary.

“It was, like, easy for me to just, like, I don’t know, it was very symbiotic the way that we work.”

In a separate interview, Dakota opened up about how she and Taylor are able to talk about “everything on the planet”.

The 36-year-old star – who plays a woman involved in an abusive relationship in the Patient Zero video – told BBC Radio 1’s Greg James: “Taylor and I are really good friends, and we talk a lot about everything, everything on the planet.

“A lot of that is true crime, and she’s a genius person, and if you talk about world-building, I think the inside of her mind is this miraculous, intricate wonderland.

“And so, she asked if I would do this, and of course, I’ll do anything with her; she’s the most fun.”
