Celebrity fitness guru Sam Wood has been stood down by his own company as he remains in custody following domestic violence allegations.
Wood, 46, co-founded his fitness and nutrition group 28 by Sam Wood in 2016, which merged with genetics group myDNA in 2022 in a $71 million deal.
On Monday morning, acting CEO of 28 Group Mark Watkin released a statement regarding the accusations against its founder, declaring he had been relieved of his duties indefinitely.
“We have all been shocked and saddened by the matters involving Sam Wood,” the statement began.
“We have zero tolerance for domestic violence. While the matter is under investigation and before the court, Sam is on indefinitely leave from his duties.
“Our thoughts are with the family and anyone in the community affected by domestic violence.”
It is understood Wood, his wife Snezana and their daughters were staying at The Sebel in Noosa when police were called to the property about 9pm on Saturday following a report of alleged domestic violence.
Queensland Police said a 46-year-old Victorian man was charged with two domestic violence related offences.
“Officers attended a Hastings Street, Noosa address around 9pm Saturday after receiving reports of alleged domestic violence,” a police spokesman said.
“Police have charged a 46-year-old Victorian man with domestic violence offences early this morning, 4 October.
“The man has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence) and strangulation in a domestic setting.”
A shared statement was released via Wood, his company, and his wife’s social media channels on Monday.
“This is a difficult time for all of us, we are working through this as a family and are thoroughly co-operating with the authorities,” a statement read.

Wood remains behind bars on remand following his first court mention in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday, where he did not appear himself.
The fitness personality’s lawyer requested the matter be adjourned to Thursday, with a bail application to be scheduled on that day.
Wood and Snezana married in 2018 after meeting on The Bachelor Australia in 2015, where she had entered as a single mother from Perth.
The couple share children Willow, Charlie, and Harper — all under 10 — and co-parent Eve, 21, Snezana’s daughter from a previous relationship.
