Hawthorn are in productive talks with Gold Coast for Aidan Schubert who has agreed to join the Suns on a five-year deal.

The Hawks are waiting for the Suns to confirm whether they will let Ben King cross to them as a restricted free agent.

The Schubert deal will have to stand along from King’s move as a free agent.

This would earn the Suns pick number seven in the national draft and would give them a valuable bargaining chip for any pursuit of Nick Blakey.

The Hawks are keen on luring North’s defender Josh Goater, but this negotiation will be left until next week according to industry sources.

St Kilda have pulled the trigger on a deal to send contracted ruckman Rowan Marshall to Geelong, as the Cats and other rival clubs circle Sydney star Nick Blakey.

Geelong traded pick No.14 in this year’s draft for the disenchanted 30-year-old and a third-round selection in 2028 on Thursday afternoon.

New Zealand-born Marshall had requested a move to the Cats for a second straight year after St Kilda recruited Tom De Koning to become their first-choice ruckman.

Cats football boss Andrew Mackie on Monday indicated an unwillingness to part with their first-round pick for Marshall after the Saints asked for a player to be attached to the trade.

Hello everyone and welcome to our AFL trade period blog for day five.

We have plenty of deals still to be completed and teams will be keen to finalise some deals today ahead the hectic finish next week.

Enjoy the day to come.
