From Maddock Films’ upcoming horror-comedy Shakti Shalini to the biographical drama Eetha and the crime thriller The Confession of Mary, here is a look at the five films featuring Nana Patekar that audiences are yet to see.
1. Shakti Shalini
Among Nana Patekar’s remaining projects, Shakti Shalini is expected to be his final big-screen appearance. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the film is part of Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe and features Aneet Padda and Vishal Jethwa in key roles.
The story centres on Shakti, an ordinary woman who becomes the protector of Shalini, a vengeful spirit. Patekar’s character details have largely been kept under wraps, although reports have described him as an occultist.
The actor had completed his portions for the film. Sarpotdar later recalled that Patekar wanted to watch the final cut and return for dubbing, underlining his involvement in the project even after wrapping up his shoot. The film was initially expected to release on December 24, 2026, though its release plans may change.
2. Eetha
Directed by Laxman Utekar, Eetha draws inspiration from the life of Vithabai Narayangaonkar, a celebrated Maharashtra folk performer associated with Tamasha and Lavani. Shraddha Kapoor plays the lead role, with Randeep Hooda, Anant Joshi and Nana Patekar also part of the cast.
The film traces the life and journey of an influential figure in Maharashtra’s folk performance tradition. While Kapoor leads the biographical drama, Patekar’s character has not been fully detailed publicly.
The film is scheduled to arrive in theatres on December 4, 2026. It will give audiences another opportunity to see Patekar in a project rooted in Maharashtra’s cultural landscape.
3. The Confession of Mary
In The Confession of Mary, Patekar takes on the role of Father Benedict, a Catholic priest accused of murdering a woman. Directed by Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, the crime drama is inspired by Kerala’s 1966 Madatharuvi murder case, involving the killing of Mariyakutty and the accusations against a priest.
The film also features Adil Hussain, Ashish Vidyarthi, Gautam Rode, Joy Sengupta and Neha Mahajan, among others. Its story explores a case that raises difficult questions about faith, justice and the consequences of an accusation.
The film was selected for a screening at the Toronto International Film Festival. Its co-producer Subhash Kale also revealed that Patekar had been expected to return to Mumbai to dub a line shortly before his death.
4. Kuku Ki Kundali
Patekar’s unreleased slate also includes Kuku Ki Kundali, a romantic comedy directed by Sharan Sharma. The film stars Bhuvan Bam and Wamiqa Gabbi alongside the veteran actor.
The story reportedly revolves around a relationship complicated by a horoscope, which creates friction between a couple and their families. The premise places the film in a lighter, relationship-driven space, offering a contrast to the crime drama and horror-comedy among Patekar’s other upcoming projects.
Further details about his role and the film’s release date have not been officially announced.
5. Vedanta
The fifth project is Vedanta, directed by Rajeshwar Pandey Raaj. Patekar features in the film alongside Vikrant Massey, Sandeepa Dhar and Mukesh Tiwari.
Unlike the other projects, information about the film’s storyline, Patekar’s character and its release schedule remains limited. The project is among the lesser-known titles in his remaining filmography, with more details awaited from the makers.
With these five films still awaiting release, Nana Patekar’s presence on screen will extend beyond his death. The projects span different genres and filmmakers, reflecting the range of work he continued to take on during the later years of his career.
