Man charged over alleged ‘offensive’ act at Bondi Beach

A man who allegedly performed “offensive hand gestures” at a pedestrian bridge at Bondi Beach has been charged.

The man, aged 53, is accused of hanging a flag from the bridge and performing the “offensive hand gestures”.

He is accused of carrying out the alleged act about 3pm on Friday at the bridge on Campbell Parade.

The man has since been charged with behaving in an offensive manner in/near public place/school.

He was refused bail and was due to front a local court on Saturday.

Separately, fifteen people were killed in an alleged terror attack at the iconic beach on December 14, 2025.

Naveed Akram and his father Sajid, 50, who was shot dead by police, are alleged to have been inspired by ISIS when they attacked a Jewish festival at the beach.

Mr Akram is facing dozens of offences, including terrorism, murder, attempted murder, and shooting with intent to murder.

He remains before the court.
