Lenny Rush has promised his Dobby will “look great” in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
The 17-year-old actor has been cast as the House Elf in the second season of HBO’s upcoming TV adaptation of JK Rowling’s magical wizarding novels, and the teenager insisted he’s staying tight lipped about the role.
Asked if he could share whether he’ll be bringing the character to life via makeup, motion capture, or just a voice role, he told The Big Issue magazine: “Oh no! Sorry, I can’t.
“But I’ve seen the route they’re going down and how we’re gonna do it together and yeah, Dobby’s gonna look great. I’m really pleased with him.”
However, Lenny – who insisted he’s only seen as much as the fans – admitted he is “so excited”.
He added: “What I will say is that I’m so excited. The only stuff I’ve seen is what everyone else has seen, the trailers for the first series.”
While Lenny has been cast as Dobby in the highly anticipated Harry Potter revival – which launches this Christmas with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone – the character was voiced by Toby Jones in the movies.
The former Doctor Who star also revealed he would love to join the James Bond franchise, although he played down the chances of him playing 007 himself.
He quipped: “Oh yeah! Imagine that. ‘Is it Jack [Lowden]? Is it Theo James?! No, It’s Lenny.’
“I hadn’t seen a lot of Bond until recently when I watched all the Daniel Craig ones. I’d genuinely love to play M. That’s a great role.
“They change every so often, you have Ralph Fiennes, Dame Judi Dench, that’d be quite fun.
“And obviously I’d love to play a Bond villain. Maybe Mini-Me.”
After appearing in the sixth season of Slow Horses, Lenny thinks Jack Lowden would be “great” for the part”.
He said: “There are two people I think would be great. Obviously, number one, Jack Lowden. I think it would be cool to see Jack play him because they’re kind of similar characters.
“But the good thing is, in James Bond, you’d be able to see Jack doing a good job of being a spy.
“Another person I’ve become obsessed with is Theo James, I just watched The Gentleman and I think he’d be a great Bond. They’re my two.”
As well as Slow Horses, Lenny has previously appeared in the likes of Doctor Who and Am I Being Unreasonable?, while he can currently be seen starring in new BBC comedy The Reluctant Vampire.
His big screen credits include playing a newspaper boy in 2022’s Enola Holmes 2, and the next year he portrayed Lukas Calder in British horror flick Haunting of the Queen Mary.
