Jeremy Renner says he will not appear in Avengers: Doomsday.

The 55-year-old actor has played the role of Clint Barton/ Hawkeye in various Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) projects but has revealed that the superhero team “will probably lose” this time because his alter ego won’t be featuring in the long-awaited new blockbuster.

In a recent Q+A shared by a fan on social media site X, Renner said: “No, no, no, no. Not in that one.

“Doomsday I’m not in, so the Avengers will probably lose, just so you know… they didn’t call me, so it’s their fault. They’re going to lose.”

Renner revealed last year that he was keen to return to the MCU, be it in the second season of TV show Hawkeye or a separate project.

The Mayor of Kingstown star told Empire: “I’m always happy to be in that world, man. I love all those guys, I love the character.

“I’m sure we’ll end up doing Season 2 (of Hawkeye), and do other things. And I’m happy to do it. My body’s getting ready for something like that. I don’t know if anybody wants to see me in tights, but my body will look good in tights.”

Renner suffered serious injuries after being run over by his own snowplough at his Nevada home in January 2023 and explained that he is desperate to play Hawkeye again to honour the MCU co-stars who supported him during his recovery from the horrific accident.

Asked about a return to the part, Jeremy told Entertainment Tonight in 2024: “I’m always game. I’m gonna be strong enough, that’s for sure. I’ll be ready.

“All those guys come to my bedside and they’ve been with me all along through this recovery, so… if they want me, they could have me. It would be something.”

Sebastian Stan will be appearing in Avengers: Doomsday as Bucky Barnes/ Winter Soldier and revealed recently that he expects the movie to be “heartbreaking” for fans.

The 44-year-old star told Decider: “I haven’t seen the movie, and I don’t know how it turned out.

“I’m sure it’s going to be probably heartbreaking, in a lot of ways. We’ll see who makes it to the next level.”

Stan was delighted that he “got a chance to reunite” with his Marvel co-stars, including the likes of Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr.

The Fjord actor said: “It was very nostalgic to look back, and think about all of these years that we’ve known each other, and grew up together. It’s incredible in that way. It’s been a family and it never stops being that way.”
