We’re back on level terms at Allianz Stadium, with Kotoni Staggs to also spend early stages of the second half in the sin-bin. There can be no complaints about the decision to put Staggs in the bin. His professional foul was textbook stuff. Isaako kicked another penalty goal from the subsequent penalty. 10-10 after 40 minutes

Kalyn Ponga looked destined to score. He thought he had the best of Australia fullback Reece Walsh. Walsh, who was a surprise selection ahead of James Tedesco in the No.1 jersey for this match, had other ideas and produced a stunning try-saving tackle. Now, we’re not saying Tedesco couldn’t have done the same thing, but that was wonderful stuff from the Broncos star. Australia lead 10-8 after 37 minutes

First, it was Jack Bostock with a long-range intercept try; now it is his fellow winger Tom Trbojevic with a similar effort on the other side of the field. Uncanny stuff, there. On both occasions, Australia looked set to concede a try, only to then score at the other end. That’s a 24-point turnaround, and somehow Australia are in the lead. Australia lead 10-8 after 33 minutes

After Reece Walsh launched a line drop-out straight over the sideline, New Zealand are awarded a penalty and Jamayne Isaako kicks the easiest of penalty goals. The Kiwis deserve to be leading by more than the four-point buffer they now hold. New Zealand lead 8-4 after 28 minutes

A dream come true for the Dolphins winger. Just when New Zealand looked set to add a second try, Bostock used every inch of his height to snare the ball from mid-air. Once he had it, he quickly evaded the clutches on one defender before enjoying a clear run to the line. What a night for the Illawarra Steelers junior. New Zealand lead 6-4 after 21 minutes

Ronaldo Mulitalo out-jumped Tom Trbojevic and set up NZ centre Casey McLean to produce a superb touchdown just inside the sideline to give the visitors a dream start.

Mulitalo did incredibly well to set the play up, but McLean’s work was superb. Jamayne Isaako converts from the sideline with ease. New Zealand lead 6-0 after 5 minutes

An excellent crowd is quickly shuffling in to Allianz Stadium. There was a lovely contrast at the nearby Entertainment Quarter where Australian and New Zealand rugby league fans enjoyed a feed and a beer, while hundreds of young female fans, all dressed in pink, queued up across the road at the Hordern Pavilion for Swedish pop sensation Zara Larsson.
