Randwick track upgraded to a soft 6, retrospective of race one, where Zac Lloyd took Jason Deamer-trained.
It’s A Knockout into the $3 million Big Dance on Melbourne Cup day with victory in the wildcard.
Lloyd said post race the track felt like a Soft 6 already.
Demi Brereton is a stalwart of Melbourne racing, but it’s the French Riviera that comes to mind when you look at her glamorous outfit for today’s event.
In a textured strapless custom Tohja dress, Brereton has swapped the traditional fascinator for a custom scarf by Kim Fletcher.
“We wanted to celebrate the evolution of racewear, mixing vintage influences with a more contemporary silhouette,” explains stylist Meggy Smith.
“Finished with pearl jewellery and vintage pieces from Catanach, the look brings together the best of past and present.”
If you’re an avid race day commentator, you’ll be familiar with Olivia Molly Rogers.
The Sportsbet Caulfield Cup Ambassador and influencer has become a staple at events like Caulfield, Derby Day and Melbourne Cup, carving out a fashion identity not unlike.
Ask what her two rules she lives by when getting dressed for the races, she evokes that golden chestnut first: “Choose something that makes you feel confident and true to yourself.”
That came up a lot in my conversations with attendees: wear whatever you’re most comfortable in.
Nonetheless, her second tip is an equation for success: “I like everything to tie together, but not every part of the outfit needs to make a statement. If the dress is the statement piece, I’ll keep the millinery and accessories a little more subtle so they complement it rather than compete with it.”
It’s a Knockout has won the Big Dance Wildcard at Randwick by two lengths.
Jockey Zac Lloyd is off to a flying start today as his horse got the perfect run and won comfortably.

Jason Kimberley, the entrepreneur, adventurer, author and former No.1 ticket holder at the Swans, has made a run for best dressed man at Caulfield. Forget trends, he has arrived in a camel safari suit!
“Given most of the horses I back are camels, I figured it was appropriate to wear a camel safari suit,” he told us.
Footy great Nathan Buckley has made an eye-catching arrival at the Caulfield track with his new partner, hospitality identity Kate Dickins.
Buckley, the Collingwood legend and now assistant coach at Geelong, looks slick – you’ve got to give it to him, he knows how to wear a suit well, unlike some of the chaps at the track today – is alongside Dickins, who is a head-turner in red.
At 11.30am we had our first racegoer attended to by St John Ambulance officers.
The man is OK, but today’s warm weather will be a bit more of an endurance test than some racegoers might be prepared for.
We have a three-horse photo finish for the opening group 3 Sportsbet Classic at Caulfield, our first race of the day.
King Snitz was in the middle of the leading horses and won by a nose or perhaps the point of the nose.
