Samsung has just rolled out its Android 17-based One UI 9 update to phones like the Galaxy S26 series. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 series, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and Galaxy S26 FE were among the first smartphones to ship with the latest software. While users are still getting used to its new quick settings and updated Notes app, reports indicate that the company is already planning a massive software redesign for its next major release: One UI 10.

Rumours suggest this upcoming version could bring such dramatic changes that Samsung might even drop the One UI name entirely, rebranding the platform to “Galaxy OS”.

A New Look and Contextual Workflows

According to tipster Ice Universe, One UI 10 will deliver “unprecedented” changes to the user experience. The core focus will be on eliminating clutter.

Instead of forcing users to navigate complex sub-menus or switch across multiple standalone apps, the system aims to adopt a “contextual flow.” This means related information, such as calendar schedules, real-time locations, and chat messages, will be brought together into a single, unified view. By reducing screen hopping and extra taps, common daily tasks can be handled much faster.

Deeper AI and a Unified Ecosystem

Samsung is reportedly working to weave artificial intelligence deeply across all Galaxy devices. The goal is to build a hardware-accelerated design language that connects Galaxy smartphones, tablets, wearables, and laptops seamlessly.

However, advanced intelligence might come at a cost. While basic on-device AI tools are expected to remain free, reports indicate that heavier cloud-based features, especially those requiring complex cloud computing and third-party integrations, could be placed behind a paid subscription plan.

Expected Launch Timeline

The overhaul is widely expected to align with One UI’s 10th anniversary. While some reports from Gizmochina and tipsters suggest the update could debut in mid-2027 alongside next-generation foldables like the Galaxy Z Fold 9 and Galaxy Z Flip 9, other leaks point to an early 2028 release alongside the flagship Galaxy S28 lineup running Android 18.

Since Samsung has not officially confirmed the rebranding or new features, it is best to treat these early leaks as just rumours for now.
