A deputy branch manager in Rajasthan’s Alwar was cheated of Rs 1.25 lakh through a cyber fraud involving a fake job offer. The accused allegedly sent him a link that led to the installation of a malicious APK file, after which money was debited from his credit card.
The victim, Rahul Agarwal, told police that he received a message offering a job and clicked on the link provided in it. According to the complaint, the fraudsters subsequently contacted him and allegedly gained access to his phone. They are also suspected of obtaining one-time passwords (OTPs) under the pretext of completing job registration and other formalities.
