Alleged double murderer Beau Lamarre-Condon told police he wanted to tell the “truth” and do the “right thing” for the families of a couple he is accused of killing, claiming it was a friend’s decision to hide their bodies.

Mr Lamarre-Condon is accused of murdering TV presenter Jesse Baird, whom he briefly dated, and the man’s new boyfriend Qantas host Luke Davies on February 19, 2024, at the journalist’s Paddington home.

The 31-year-old has pleaded not guilty and is arguing self-defence in a jury trial before the NSW Supreme Court.

Mr Lamarre-Condon claimed his friend, known for legal reasons as the pseudonym Elizabeth Kennedy, encouraged him not to go to the police and to hide the couple’s bodies while citing a Taylor Swift song in a statement he made to police in June 2025.

The former officer claims he cried as he showed the woman Mr Baird’s head and told her he “should just drive straight to the police right now” before she told him: “This is like Taylor Swift’s song No Body, No Crime — we have to get rid of (the bodies) straight away.”

Mr Lamarre-Condon alleges in his statement that they tried to sink the couple’s bodies in a dam at Cella Farm near Bungonia on February 21, 2024, but the woman began “freaking out” after this failed so he drove her home and asked her partner if he could help him.

Days later, Mr Lamarre-Condon claims he told the woman he was going to hand himself into police and he would not mention anything about her but warned her that if it went to court he can’t lie under oath.

“I’ll pretend I didn’t know what happened, please, please, please,” Mr Lamarre-Condon claims the woman said.

“If it’s an official interview I can’t lie, I’m sorry,” he allegedly told her.

Mr Lamarre-Condon alleged the woman “flat out lied to police” in her statement, and that he decided to assist the authorities about her alleged involvement.

“I also wanted to do the right thing for the families, as they deserve to know the truth,” Mr Lamarre-Condon wrote in his statement.

Prosecutors earlier alleged the statement was a “lie” and that Mr Lamarre-Condon had “already decided to conceal the deaths of the two men by disposing of them”.

Ms Kennedy also denied suggestions by the former officer’s barrister, John Stratton SC, that Mr Lamarre-Condon showed her Mr Baird’s head and started crying.

“No. He never showed any remorse or shed a tear, even when he called me from jail,” Ms Kennedy told the jury.

She also claimed Mr Lamarre-Condon played the Taylor Swift song on the drive to Cella Farm.

Ms Kennedy told the jury that she did drive to the farm with Mr Lamarre-Condon but she never saw the bodies.

She said she waited at the farm’s gate when they arrived, and that he had told her he needed to break into the farm to “save the cattle” as he knew the owners.
