A man has been shot dead and a car has been set ablaze in what police believe may have been a targeted killing.
At 11.50pm on Tuesday, officers rushed to Mahoney’s Rd in Reservoir in Melbourne’s north and found a man had been shot dead.
The man is yet to be formally identified, and police are investigating whether the incident was targeted.
Shortly after the shooting, a vehicle was found burnt out on Robinvale Ave in Thomastown, just over 2km away from where the victim was found.
Several people left the scene of the fire in a white vehicle, and investigators are probing a link between the two incidents.
Anybody who witnessed the incidents or might be in possession of important CCTV/dashcam footage has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
