Victorian Premier Ben Carroll has given Flemington a wide berth, but his wife Fiona is trackside, holed up on an upper level of Crown Resort’s Birdcage hospitality.
As the election looms and with much electioneering to undertake, there are few state politicians on the ground.
Alas, Mrs Carroll, who’s been Victoria’s first lady for mere weeks, remains camera shy, declining our request for a photograph in her racing finery.
