More than 150 people, including several children, have reportedly fallen ill after consuming pani puri from a roadside stall in Uttar Pradesh’s Siddharthnagar district, triggering a suspected food poisoning outbreak. Several children have been admitted to a hospital after developing symptoms such as vomiting, with doctors suspecting contaminated water or spoiled food as the possible cause.

According to the Emergency Duty Doctor, around 30-32 children had been brought to the hospital so far. The children reportedly consumed pani puri sold by a vendor in their village and developed symptoms of food poisoning two days later.

“Some cases were serious, but patients are being treated and managed. More patients are expected to arrive,” the doctor said.

The exact cause of the illness has not yet been established. Doctors suspect that contaminated water or spoiled food may have triggered the outbreak.

“We are awaiting the reports,” the Emergency Duty Doctor said, adding that the cause would be confirmed after the investigation and test results.

Patients are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital, while authorities are awaiting further reports to determine the source of the suspected food poisoning.
