A major mishap was narrowly averted in Uttarakhand’s Kedarnath on Saturday after a helicopter belonging to AIIMS Rishikesh’s heli ambulance service crashed due to damage sustained in its rear section. As per details, all three people on board — the pilot (captain), a doctor, and a member of the medical staff — escaped unhurt.

Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey confirmed the incident and assured that all passengers are safe. He added that prompt response by the pilot and onboard crew played a crucial role in avoiding casualties.
Meanwhile, AIIMS Senior Public Relations Officer Sandeep Kumar Singh stated that the heli-ambulance had gone for a patient in Kedarnath. During landing, it encountered a technical glitch. The helicopter sustained damage in the process. A video has also surfaced showing that the rear portion of the helicopter was damaged.

Helicopter crashes near Gangotri in Uttarakhand
Earlier this month, six people were killed and one sustained injury after a helicopter crashed in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district on May 8. According to details, the seven-seater chopper went down near Gangotri which triggered an urgent response from emergency services. The incident was confirmed by Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey. Soon after the incident, local residents and police rushed to the spot. The administration and multiple emergency teams were rushed to the spot.
