“Rs 25 lakh ex-gratia and a contract job will be provided to the families of the deceased. Thirty-five injured victims will be provided darshan tomorrow,” Naidu said during a briefing, news agency ANI reported.
As per Naidu’s instructions, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman BR Naidu said, “We have decided to give Rs 25 lakhs as ex-gratia to the families of those who died, Rs 5 lakh to those seriously injured and Rs 2 lakhs to those undergoing treatment.”
The Chief Minister also confirmed that a judicial probe would be conducted to investigate the causes of the stampede. “A judicial probe will be ordered into the incident to submit a detailed report. Two officials – Goshala director Arunadh Reddy and one police personnel – have been suspended. SP, AEO Gautami, and one other official are being transferred,” he said.
The Chief Minister acknowledged lapses in crowd management and called for better coordination in the future. “I’m not blaming anyone. I’ve been in politics for the last 45 years. Security was deployed, but more precautions should have been taken. The officials who were deployed failed. If they had released them half an hour or one hour earlier, this wouldn’t have happened. Better coordination is required,” he added.
YSR Congress Party chief and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy also visited the victims in Tirupati to express his support.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin conveyed his condolences and announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives in the stampede.
Special darshan for the injured has been arranged at the temple on Friday, as per the Chief Minister’s directive.
