Carlton forward Elijah Hollands has again put his AFL career on hold with the club’s support as he deals with ongoing personal issues.

Hollands missed the Blues’ opening five games of 2025 after taking leave just two days out from their season opener.

The 23-year-old played five games on return, but has withdrawn from Saturday’s crunch clash with GWS at Marvel Stadium.

“Our support for Elijah remains ongoing, with the focus being on what is in the best interests of his personal health and wellbeing,” Carlton football boss Brad Lloyd said.

“As we know, the journey is certainly not linear when it comes to this space, and as a club we will ensure Elijah is given all the time, care and support he needs.”

Carlton have made five changes for the Giants clash, with ruck star Tom De Koning back from a throat injury in place of Marc Pittonet (omitted).

Sam Docherty, Blake Acres and Lachie Fogarty have been recalled and Harry O’Farrell will debut.

Jack Silvagni (groin), Jordan Boyd (concussion) and Francis Evans (omitted) are out.

GWS have lost important midfielder Finn Callaghan (shoulder) and Toby McMullin (adductor), with Leek Aleer and Harry Rowston back.

Hawthorn have been bolstered by the return of Lloyd Meek, Jack Gunston, Jarman Impey and Conor Nash for their clash with the Brisbane Lions at the MCG on Saturday.

The Lions, looking to rebound from a shock home loss to Melbourne, left out Keidean Coleman (managed) after his one game back from a serious knee injury.

Fremantle are again unable to call on Sean Darcy (knee), leaving Luke Jackson to lead their ruck division against a Port Adelaide side reeling from last week’s thumping by Geelong.

The Power made four changes to their side for Saturday night’s Optus Stadium contest, with Jason Horne-Francis, Lachie Jones, Josh Sinn and Esava Ratugolea all out injured.

Veteran Travis Boak has been recalled alongside Brandon Zerk-Thatcher and Rory Atkins, with 22-year-old midfielder Hugh Jackson to debut.

Collingwood will give Dan Houston (calf) every chance to play against North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night, but captain Darcy Moore (shoulder) and Lachie Schultz (concussion) will miss again.

Veteran Steele Sidebottom has been rested, with 19-year-old small forward Will Hayes to debut.

The Kangaroos have got Paul Curtis back from suspension and Zac Fisher has been recalled with Bailey Scott and Zane Duursma dropped.

On Sunday, St Kilda will have at least four changes after dropping Angus McLennan, Lance Collard and Hugo Garcia.

Jack Macrae (punctured lung) is unavailable for the Saints’ clash with Gold Coast at Marvel Stadium.

West Coast have lost Jamie Cripps (knee) and Matt Owies (calf) for their away clash with Adelaide and key defender Jake Lever (ankle) has been named in an extended Melbourne squad to face Sydney at the MCG.

The Swans are without Aaron Francis (concussion), Joel Amartey and Justin McInerney (both suspension) and have named Callum Mills and Taylor Adams in an extended squad.
