Putin, in his statement, called for punishment for the perpetrators. He reiterated Russia’s “commitment to further increasing cooperation with Indian partners in fighting terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”

“Kindly accept the sincere condolences over the tragic consequences of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, whose victims were civilians — citizens of various countries. This brutal crime has no justification whatsoever. We expect that its organisers and perpetrators will face a deserved punishment,” the Russian President said.

He further urged to convey words of sincere sympathy and support to the near and dear ones of the deceased, as well as wished for a speedy recovery of all injured.

Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov has extended his deepest condolences to the people and government of India over the Pahalgam terror attack, reaffirming Russia’s solidarity with India in the face of terrorism.

“Deepest condolences to the people and the Government of India over the heinous terror attack against tourists in Pahalgam. Russia resolutely stands with India,” Alipov wrote on X.

The attack comes as the Prime Minister embarked on a visit to Saudi Arabia. It also comes amid US Vice President JD Vance’s three-day India trip. He had met Vance earlier on Monday and hosted a dinner for the US Second Family.

The PM was briefed on the situation by Home Minister Amit Shah, who vowed to come down heavily on the terrorists involved. According to sources, PM Modi may cut short his visit to Saudi Arabia and return to India earlier than planned.
