The Congress on Sunday unveiled its third guarantee scheme called ‘Yuva Udaan Yojana’, promising to give a monthly stipend of Rs 8,500 to educated unemployed youth in Delhi for one year, if the party won the next month’s Assembly polls.

The initiative aims to bridge the gap between education and employment by providing practical work experience and financial support. “This scheme will not only ease the financial burden on unemployed youth, but also enhance their employability,” Congress leader Sachin Pilot told reporters at a press conference.

The scheme’s announcement was made on the day when National Youth Day is being observed today to mark the birth anniversery of Hindu monk Swami Vivekananda.

Delhi Congress in-charge Kazi Nizamuddin accused the Narendra Modi-led central government and the AAP-led Delhi government of failing the youth of the country.

“Their policies have broken the backbone of the younger generation. Congress, however, understands the struggles of today’s youth and is committed to providing practical solutions,” said.

Speaking to India Today TV, Congress leader Sachin Pilot reiterated the party’s commitment to constructive politics and distanced himself from the blame game between AAP and BJP.

“In the last few years, both the Delhi and central governments have engaged in political bickering, ignoring the aspirations of the people,” he alleged.

“Both Centre and state government have failed to fulfil promises. Delhi has never seen this kind of politics. Delhi is witnessing politics of name calling and people need a new alternative,” he said.

About the rift in INDIA bloc, Pilot asserted that the Opposition alliance was strong and stressed that every state had a different political landscape.

“In Punjab, both AAP and Congress fought against each other. INDIA bloc is strong. Every state unit has a different situation. INDIA bloc was made amid Lok Sabha elections to save democracy,” he said.

The Congress and AAP fought together in Delhi during the Lok Sabha elections last year but none of them failed to win any seat. Both parties are contesting separately in the February 8 Assembly polls.

Pilot urged voters to choose Congress for meaningful governance.

“On February 5, Delhi will vote for a new government. Congress leaders are working responsibly to deliver change. If we win, our focus will be on creating opportunities for youth and ensuring our promises are kept,” he said.

The Congress leader said the upcoming polls were a chance for the people of Delhi to choose a better future with the party’s legacy and vision.

On January 6, the Congress announced ‘Pyari Didi Yojana’, promising a monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,500 for women if it is voted to power.

On January 8, the party announced ‘Jeevan Raksha Yojana’ under which it promised to provide free health insurance of up to Rs 25 lakh.

The Congress, which ruled Delhi for 15 years, is positioning itself as an alternative to BJP and AAP, with a special focus on youth and women.

In the 2015 and 2020 Assembly polls, the Congress drew a blank while the AAP swept both elections, winning 67 and 62 of 70 seats, respectively.

Results for the February 5 Assembly polls will be declared on February 8.
