Shark sightings closed four popular Perth beaches on Sunday morning.

Surf Life Savers closed Floreat Beach and City Beach just before 10.30am after a two metre hammerhead shark was seen circling 300m offshore.

Life guards were seen ordering people out of the water at City Beach, which was packed with swimmers at the time.

Just minutes later, North Cottesloe Beach and Swanbourne Beach were also closed after the hammerhead was seen 150m from the shore of those busy swimming spots.

All four beaches were reopened about an hour later at 11.30am, with surf life savers urging swimmers to stay between the flags.

Further south, Bunker Bay Beach was closed after a 3.5m great white was spotted circling 800m off shore but was reopened at 12pm.
