A 19-year-old teen was arrested after the car, he was driving, ran over a four-year-old boy in Mumbai, police said on Sunday, i.e., December 22.

As per a report by NDTV, the accident took place near the Ambedkar College in the Wadala area in Mumbai. The deceased, Ayush Laxman Kinvade, lives on the nearby foothpath and his father serves as a worker, the outlet reported citing the police.

Moreover, the arrested individual, identified as Sandeep Gole, is a resident of Vile Parle. Further investigation is underway into the matter.

The incident comes months after the Pune porche case in which two people were killed after a speeding car ran over them. The car was allegedly driven by a 17-year-old teen. What began as a straightforward legal case later spiraled into a nationwide outrage, with the allegations of preferential treatment and a lenient judicial response.

Furthermore, Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, last week stated Maharashtra was among the states that have witnessed the highest number of road accidents in the last five years.
