A fitness influencer inspired everyone with her striking weight loss journey. Now, she shared three tips for balancing realistic expectations and diets.
Losing weight has become one of the most challenging tasks today. Fitness enthusiasts are constantly experimenting with their diets, hitting the gyms, practicing yoga, and showing interest in a variety of fitness regimes. However, in fast-paced lives, setting aside a certain amount of time separately for physical exercises is not always possible. In this situation, a fitness influencer shared her holistic approach to her weight loss journey.
Kols, a ‘realistic fitness coach’ as per Instagram account’s bio, revealed that she lost 70 pounds (31.75 kg) on her weight loss journey. She shared a few tips that can help anyone achieve their fat-loss goals. Atop the video, she pasted an after and before picture of hers alongside a caption that read, “3 Tips to lose weight in 2025.”

Reevaluating your goals
The fitness influencer shared that for New Year’s resolutions, it is time to reevaluate the fitness goals with easy changes in the lifestyle. She explained with an example how a realistic approach to the goals is needed. “If you’re somebody who is used to sitting on the couch all the time – you hardly even get 3,000 steps a day – but your resolution is to get 10,000 steps a day and go to the gym six times a week, that’s probably not realistic to your lifestyle.”
She, further, shared how to incorporate easy steps to achieve the goals. Kols shared, “Instead, one should analyze their lifestyle and set realistic expectations. “I work from home and don’t get to move a lot throughout the day, so a realistic goal for me is about 6,000 steps a day. If I say I am going to get 10,000 steps a day that is unrealistic for me,” adding, “I don’t have enough time in the day, I work too much, I simply cannot do that. I would have to push myself so hard and I would get burnt out so quickly. And then I would just give up.”
Don’t give up on any specific food
Kols suggested that if, for the sake of your New Year’s resolution, you are thinking of giving up on any specific food then that must be avoided. She revealed, “You can eat sugar, you can eat carbs, you can eat whatever you want in your weight loss journey and still be successful,” adding, “We don’t need to cut foods from our diet to lose weight. So, if you’re doing that because you want results faster or think it is a solution for weight loss, it is not. You can still eat whatever you want and still be losing weight if you are eating it in a calorie-deficit way.”
The fitness influencer further asked to figure out how much of a calorie deficit that food item can be by using a TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) calculator online. These calculators help estimate the number of calories needed and burned by the person’s body. Further, she explained that if you completely cut something from your diet, you are going to miss it even more. In this way, after restricting yourself from eating, when you will constantly crave and finally consume the food item, this will turn your weight loss journey into a complete failure.
Don’t let the scale define your progress
Finally, reflecting on her weight loss journey, Kols revealed that it is not important to scale up anything during the same. According to the fitness influencer, she never let any scale dictate her progress, as losing the 32 kgs wouldn’t have been possible for her otherwise. Instead, she asked everyone to do a health-conscious eating.
