Ryan Reynolds didn’t miss a chance to drag Hugh Jackman into the equation after confirming Wrexham’s visit to Australia and New Zealand fresh off the club’s historic promotional feat.
The Welsh outfit, now back in the second-tier Championship, will play pre-season games against A-League teams Melbourne Victory, Sydney FC and Wellington Phoenix in July.
Phil Parkinson’s side last month became the first team to earn three-straight promotions in the top five tiers of English football.
Their rise has been well-documented and much-loved in Australia thanks to the docuseries Welcome to Wrexham, born when Hollywood A-listers Reynolds and Rob McElhenney purchased the world’s third-oldest professional club in 2021.
Their Australian visit, dubbed Wrexham Down Under, follows pre-season tours of the USA in the past two years.
Reynolds and Australian Jackman have enjoyed a running tongue-in-cheek battle as Marvel characters Deadpool and Wolverine.

The American megastar did not miss his chance in Tuesday’s announcement, while also referencing Australian musical royalty.
“From the very beginning, we wanted to help make Wrexham a globally recognised team, town and brand,” Reynolds and McElhenney said in a statement on Tuesday.
“We could not be more excited to bring the Red Dragons to Australia and New Zealand, and we are particularly proud that this announcement features neither a Men at Work or Hugh Jackman joke.
“The latter of which took maturity and tremendous restraint. We’re proud of Ryan. Of course, we make no promises going forward.”
