Common medications may lower the risk of getting memory.
Researchers from the University of Cambridge and the University of Exeter have found that medicines, some vaccines, antiretrovirals, and anti-inflammatory medicines are linked to lowering the chances of getting the sickness- which causes the loss of memory, speech, problem-solving and various mental abilities.
The information examined more than 130 million people and supports the belief that viral or bacterial infection may trigger memory.
But, opioids, drugs, medications for diabetes and some drugs may cause an increased risk of the disease.
Dr. Ben Underwood, from the University of Cambridge, said:” We desperately need new therapies to slow the improvement of memory, if not to stop it.
” If we can get drugs that are already licensed for another conditions, then we can get them into trials and- critically- may be able to make them available to patients significantly, significantly faster than we could do for an entirely new medicine. “
