Amid a wave to boycott Turkiye and Turkish goods and services over its support to Pakistan, India has said it expects the country to urge Islamabad to end its support to cross-border terrorism.

On India’s relationship with Turkey, the ministry of external affairs (MEA) said such ties are built on “sensitivities”.

“We expect Turkey to strongly urge Pakistan to end its support to cross-border terrorism and take credible and verifiable actions against the terror ecosystem it has harboured for decades. Relations are built on the basis of sensitivities to each other’s concerns,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said during a press briefing on Thursday.

On cancellation of security clearance for airport operations to Celebi Aviation, Jaiswal said the issue has been discussed with the Turkish embassy in New Delhi. “…but I understand that this particular decision was taken by the Civil Aviation Security…” he added.

‘MUTUAL TRUST BASIS OF INDIA-CHINA RELATIONS’

Jaiswal said mutual trust and respect were the basis of India’s relations with China, especially in the face of the neighbouring country recently joining hands with Pakistan to extend the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to Afghanistan.

Pledging to bring about regional peace, top leaders of China, Pakistan and Afghanistan held an informal meeting in Beijing for the purpose. The move comes as the first high-level interaction for Islamabad, soon after India launched Operation Sindoor.

“Our NSA and the Chinese Foreign Minister and Special Representative on Boundary Issue Wang Yi had spoken to each other on 10th May 2025, when NSA conveyed India’s resolute stance against cross-border terrorism emanating from Pakistan. The Chinese side is well aware that mutual trust, mutual respect and mutual sensitivity remain the basis of India-China relations,” he said during the briefing.

He said India has conveyed to China its “resolute stance” against cross-border terrorism from Pakistan. Addressing media queries about the extension of the CPEC to Afghanistan, he said: “We have seen some reports. I have nothing further to say beyond that.”

On External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar’s conversation with the acting foreign minister of Afghanistan, he said: “We had put out a release. External Affairs Minister thanked acting Foreign Minister for his very strong condemnation of the Pahalgam terror attack; they also agreed to advance bilateral cooperation in several areas. External Affairs Minister also welcomed his firm rejection of recent attempts to create distrust between India and Afghanistan through false and baseless reports.”
