An eruption at a 1300-metre-high Indonesian volcano has trigged the highest alert level, according to the country’s Geological Agency.
The ash column from Mount Ibu on the island of Halmahera reached a height of 4km in recent days.
According to the civil protection authorities, about 120 residents from the surrounding area have been brought to safety so far.
Five emergency shelters are ready to accommodate up to 3000 people.
