Kumbh Mela 2025: Ahead of the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, PhonePe has announced a first-of-its-kind insurance coverage plan for travellers visiting the event in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Curated in collaboration with ICICI Lombard, the insurance plan will be available for devotees across two variants: those travelling by train or bus and those travelling by domestic flights, offering to provide coverage for various risks throughout their visit to Prayagraj. It will be available from January 13 to February 25, 2025.

Speaking of the two variants offered by the insurance coverage by PhonePe and ICICI, it is Rs 59 per for those travelling by trains or buses while individuals travelling by domestic flights can avail of the variant of Rs 99.
Under the plan, devotees will be provided extensive coverage for various issues including hospitalisation, doctor consultation, personal accident cover, outpatient treatment, loss of check-in baggage, trip cancellation cover, missed connecting flights, and even repatriation of remains, thus ensuring a safe and secure pilgrimage for millions of people.
Speaking on the same Vishal Gupta, CEO of PhonePe Insurance Broking Services explained that the first-of-its-kind insurance plan holds significance in the wake of the upcoming Mahakumbh Mela.
It aligns with the company’s commitment and aims to deliver unique solutions that are both affordable and holistic.
- Devotees looking forward to availing insurance coverage on the PhonePe app can follow a few simple steps.
- Navigate to the insurance section on the PhonePe app and click on Mahakumbh Insurance.
- A new page will open, offering all the necessary product details. Check the information and click on Buy Now.
- Based on your mode of travel, select a plan and add the details of the members you wish to cover under it.
- Finally review the details and complete the payment to purchase.
The Maha Kumbh Mela is all set to commence on January 13, and end on February 26, 2025. Preparations are on the last-stage with the Uttar Pradesh government working in collaboration with the police and administration. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently took stock of the arrangements and discussed the progress of the work with officials before conducting site inspections at key locations.
With an expected influx of millions over the next few weeks, arrangements for security, accommodation, and transportation are also being scrutinised.
