He further mimicked Hindi-speaking people from UP and Bihar, contrasting it with Punjabi, which he called a “manly” language.

During the interview, Yograj, known for his outspoken nature, made a controversial comment about women in positions of power, and said, “Wife will destroy your house if you give her power. Sorry to say, Indira Gandhi ran this country and destroyed it. Give them respect and love, but never give them power.”

Yograj further made a shocking claim by saying that he wanted to kill Kapil Dev after the captain of India’s 1983 ODI World Cup-winning team dropped him from the national side.

Backlash And Criticism

“The way anti-Hindi, Hindu, Hindustan, Yograj Singh has made fun of Hindi,” a user on X said.

Another netizen termed the ex-cricketer’s remarks as misogynistic and said that it’s an insult to the millions who speak and cherish the language.

“Yograj Singh’s comment in interview with Samdish labeling Hindi as ‘the language of women’ is not only misogynistic but also an insult to the millions who speak and cherish the language. Such statements reflect a regressive mindset that undermines both women and the linguistic heritage of India. As journalists, it’s our duty to call out such rhetoric, which perpetuates gender stereotypes and derails meaningful conversations about language and culture,” she said.
