Melbourne vs Collingwood live scoreboard
QT: Melbourne 2.2 (14) tied with Collingwood 2.2 (14)

What a terrific quarter of footy that was!
This is the prime example of low-scoring footy not necessarily being bad footy, because this looks like a completely different sport to what we saw in Bunbury yesterday.
The pressure has been immense from both sides, with Collingwood narrowly leading the tackle count 19-18.
The Pies have tried to possess the football with their uncontested style, and have a 27-14 edge in marks, including four inside 50, but the Dees have held up well.
Melbourne has a 4-1 edge in centre clearances, but the Pies lead 10-6 at stoppages.
Josh Daicos is the leading ball-winner on the ground with 11 disposals at quarter time, and also has two clearances.
Clayton Oliver and Steven May lead the Demons with seven touches apiece.
Nick Daicos, who has seen Langdon shadowing him everywhere, including the bench, has five touches and two clearances.

Gawn’s brilliant goal-saving fingertip
Brilliant defence from Melbourne skipper Max Gawn on the goal line!
Bobby Hill’s second set shot of the afternoon is sailing through for a goal, but Gawn leaps up like it’s a ruck contest on the goal line and gets a fingertip on it.
The soft call is a behind and the cameras show Gawn’s got his hand on the footy in the nick of time.

Tholstrup drills a set shot after more pressure
Pressure, pressure, pressure!
Koltyn Tholstrup traps Harry Perryman holding the ball with an excellent tackle inside 50 and then drills the set shot from directly in front 45m out.
What a name that is. I’m going to have trouble if I’ve got to type that out a few times this afternoon.
The Dees have 18 tackles to the Pies’ 16, and they’re 4-0 in centre clearances so far.

Elliott puts Pies ahead after Houston assist
Jamie Elliott drills a set shot from 35m out on a slight angle to put his side ahead!
A bit of a breakdown from Melbourne’s defence allowed Elliott to be completely unmanned inside 50 and he was found with a sizzling kick from Dan Houston.
That’s exactly the kind of ball delivery that made him such a sought-after player in last year’s trade period.
Have a look at this kick.

McStay gets Collingwood’s opener after terrific Howe intercept
There is only one goal apiece but folks, this is a high-quality game of football.
Dan McStay nails one on the run after receiving a handball from Scott Pendlebury for Collingwood’s first goal.
Barely a minute earlier, Kysaiah Pickett was out in a load of space, but Jeremy Howe was able to intercept a kick forward from Jake Melksham to find him.
That was a goal-saver from the veteran defender.

Daicos goes forward to break tag
It’s a game within a game here at the moment.
Nick Daicos has responded to the heavy tag by going up forward.
Ed Langdon hasn’t followed him into Melbourne’s defence, with Judd McVee having that job initially.
Daicos comes off for his first rest, and Langdon does exactly the same.
Collingwood’s pressure rating so far is 235, Melbourne’s is 208. There is not a second to breathe out there.

A double tag for Nick Daicos to start with
Interesting tactics here from the Demons in the first few minutes.
Clayton Oliver is manning Nick Daicos at centre bounces, but then around the ground it’s Ed Langdon who has the assignment.
Langdon is playing extremely physically on Daicos at stoppages.
He’s essentially playing from behind Daicos and has both his arms around the Pies star, restricting his explosive movement.
The umpires will have to pay close attention to that all afternoon.

Sparrow opens Melbourne’s account
Melbourne has the first goal of the afternoon through Tom Sparrow!
The Demons went end to end from the kick-in, and Sparrow took a mark 55m out from goal.
He’s got a host of teammates open inside the attacking 50, but hesitates and then burns them all by just deciding to kick it himself.
Very positive start from the Dees, they’ve come out pumped after the pre-game festivities, and understandably so.

Neale Daniher given guard of honour to end MCG lap
Brilliant stuff here just before the first bounce.
Neale Daniher is given a guard of honour by players on both sides and he is absolutely loving it.
This is as inspirational as it gets. I highly doubt there is a man who is more universally loved in the AFL community than Neale is.

Former Melbourne star Aaron Davey is ready to go and is dressed up as Essendon legend Michael Long.
Davey of course played under Neale Daniher during his time with the Dees!
What a player Davey was in the mid-2000s. Genuinely a ‘streets will never forget’ player who could produce magical moments on demand in his prime.
