DevelopmentWA has appointed It’s in the Bag Promotions and Events to run the Manning Road Farmers Market, securing the future of the popular operation.

The future of the market was plunged into uncertainty late last year when the private operator withdrew on short notice, raising concerns around a potential closure.

Development WA then stepped in and engaged MarketLife to run the markets in the interim, before it launched an expression of interest campaign for a new operator.

It’s in the Bag Promotions and Events, run by Roz Collins, has managed Kyilla Community Farmers Market in North Perth since October 2020.

“A long-term operator has been appointed to lead the Manning Road Farmers Market into its next chapter,” Planning and Lands Minister John Carey announced today.

“This will help ensure the market remains a vibrant, sustainable and welcoming place for the Bentley community.”

Manning Road Farmers Market opens each Saturday, attracting more than 3,500 visitors and supporting more than 80 small businesses.

The market was previously held at George Burnett Park in Karawara before relocating to Hedley Park in Bentley in October.

At the time, the City of South Perth and the Manning Road Farmers Market owner David Vincent said the relocation of the markets to Bentley was a mutually agreed decision.

Expressions of interest for a new operator to take over Manning Road Farmers Market operations closed 30 April 2025.

It’s in the Bag Promotions and Events is now set to take over as the Manning Road Farmers Market operator from 5 July.

The new operator will be responsible for all aspects of market management under a five-year Access Licence Agreement, according to the state government.

In addition to appointing a new market operator, Development WA is carrying out greater works in the Bentley area.

The Bentley Redevelopment Project is expected to deliver up to 1,000 new homes, parks and community amenities across 30-hectare area eight kilometres from Perth’s CBD.

“The Manning Road Farmers Market is a perfect complement to the Bentley Redevelopment Project and our vision to create a vibrant, inclusive and connected community,” Mr Carey said on the wider development today.

The project is currently in stage one and is expected to be completed late 2025, according to the state government.

The first stage of work is tipped to create 46 residential lots, two development sites and three public open spaces.
