More than a week after the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 people dead, there are strong indications that the terrorists involved remain active and hidden in south Kashmir, National Investigation Agency (NIA) sources claimed.
Sources closely tracking the investigation said there is credible input suggesting that more terrorists may still be hiding in the region. They added that during the attack on April 22 in Pahalgam’s Baisaran valley, there were suspicions of additional terrorists maintaining a distance, possibly to provide cover-fire in case security forces attempted a rapid response.

Sources further say that the attackers are highly self-reliant, reportedly carrying food supplies and other essential provisions with them, allowing them to operate in remote terrain for extended periods without external logistical support.
Sources also uncovered chilling details of the planning that went into the attack. A week prior, on April 15, terrorists had conducted reconnaissance missions at three locations in and around Pahalgam. One of the terrorists even surveyed an amusement park, but the plan to target that site was eventually shelved due to increased security presence.
Further complicating security efforts, the terrorists were reportedly using an ultra-secure communication system during the assault. The device, which does not rely on a SIM card, facilitates short-range encrypted communication, making it difficult for authorities to intercept their messages.
The attack itself unfolded in broad daylight, as terrorists emerged from the dense pine forests surrounding the Baisaran valley and opened fire indiscriminately on tourists riding ponies and other locals.
