While the ‘Hide Payment’ feature doesn’t allow deletion of any transaction, it enables users to temporarily remove specific payments from plain view within the Paytm app.

In a move likely to resonate with millions of privacy-conscious users, Paytm has rolled out a much-anticipated feature that allows individuals to hide selected transactions from their payment history – a first for the digital payments ecosystem. The new “Hide Payment” option promises users greater discretion and control over their personal financial records, without compromising the integrity of the platform’s transaction tracking.
The update, announced by One97 Communications, the parent company of Paytm, comes in response to a long-standing demand from users who found it easy to send and receive money but had no way to conceal sensitive or surprise-related payments. While the feature doesn’t allow deletion of any transaction, it does introduce a digital veil, enabling users to temporarily remove specific payments from plain view within the app.

“This update is particularly useful for users managing personal expenses, planning surprises, or simply seeking a bit more privacy in their day-to-day transactions,” the company stated. Importantly, the hidden transactions remain securely recorded and can be retrieved at any time, ensuring transparency without sacrificing discretion.
How It Works
To hide a transaction, users can navigate to the ‘Balance & History’ section of the Paytm app. From there, swiping left on a particular payment reveals the ‘Hide’ option. A simple tap conceals the payment from the main history view.
Unhiding is just as straightforward. By tapping the three-dot icon in the ‘Balance & History’ section and selecting ‘View Hidden Payments’, users can authenticate via PIN or biometrics (such as fingerprint or facial recognition), and swipe left again to reveal the ‘Unhide’ button.
The move reflects an evolving focus on digital privacy in the country’s booming fintech sector, where platforms are increasingly adding features to give users more agency over their data and how it is displayed.
