A desperate search and rescue mission is underway for two swimmers who disappeared at a popular waterfall in Queensland.
In a statement, Queensland Police said emergency services personnel responded to reports a woman fell off a waterfall at Wappa Falls and did not resurface around 2.30pm this afternoon.
“A male jumped into the water to assist but has also not resurfaced,” the police said.
“A search and rescue commenced approximately 2.50pm and is ongoing in relation to the two missing people.
“Wappa Falls has been closed while emergency services conduct the search and rescue.”
Wappa Falls is located in the Sunshine Coast hinterland region of Queensland, about 110km north of Brisbane.
