Sonam and Raja Raghuvanshi, a newlywed couple from Indore, went on a honeymoon trip to Meghalaya in May, but their romantic getaway was beset by tragedy when Raja’s decomposed body was discovered in a gorge, while Sonam was believed to be missing. However, in a shocking twist, Sonam was found in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur, and her lover, Raj Kushwaha, turned out to be the alleged mastermind behind the murder.

According to the FIR, Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam had arrived in Shillong on May 21, just days after their wedding in Indore, on May 10. The husband and wife disappeared on May 23, hours after they checked out of a homestay at Nongriat village, 20 km from where his body was found.
The murder took a sensational turn when Raghuvanshi’s wife, Sonam, was held by Meghalaya Police along with her three alleged aides, Akash Rajput (19), Vishal Singh Chauhan (22), and Raj Singh Kushwaha (21).
As per the autopsy report, Raj was attacked twice, at the back and front of his head.
Sonam’s father, Devi Singh, has denied the allegations of a contract killing against his daughter, accusing the Meghalaya Police of fabricating the case. He has demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident.
Singh further claimed that Sonam Raghuvanshi had reached a roadside dhaba in Ghazipur on her own on Sunday night and called her brother, following which the police arrived and took her into custody.
