Remains found at a property in Melbourne’s west have been confirmed as belonging to an allegedly murdered man who was reported missing almost a year ago.
Adrian Romeo, 43, was last seen by his family at his Craigieburn home at about 5.30pm on February 10 last year.
He told his family he was going to visit associates in Greenvale, but never returned.
Mr Romeo was reported missing on February 12, with police treating his disappearance as suspicious.
Authorities allege Mr Romeo was murdered the same day he left his home in Craigieburn.
Wallan man Robert Mantini, 58, was arrested and charged with Mr Romeo’s murder in July last year.
A 29-year-old Wallan man and a 60-year-old Greenvale man were later charged with assisting offender (murder).
The trio are due back before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on February 24.
Detectives and members of numerous other agencies carried out several searches at a Wildwood property between July and December last year in a bid to find any trace of Mr Romeo.
Victoria Police say a “number of items” were located during searches conducted on November 27 and December 10, which underwent forensic analysis.
It was confirmed on Saturday that the remains of Mr Romeo had been discovered and his family had been notified.
Police undertook further searches of the Wildwood property earlier this week, but the search did not turn up anything else.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Anyone with information about Mr Romeo’s disappearance is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
