Pop star Rihanna has used the fanfare of Met Gala 2025 to announce she’s pregnant with child number three.
The Diamonds singer, 37, shares two sons with American rapper A$AP Rocky.
She debuted her growing baby bump at the Carlyle Hotel in New York City before arriving at the fashion-focused event, dressed fittingly in a two-piece baby blue skirt set as she strutted in heels under an umbrella.
Welcoming her oldest RZA in May 2022, then Riot Rose in August 2023, the singer has previously stated she’s yet to birth a little girl but would hope to change that.
“So far, have daughters,” she told E! News in 2023.
“I’m batting at 75 percent for a boy next time. So, we’ll just keep our fingers crossed.”
Hailing from in Barbados, the singer and businesswoman was born Robyn Rihanna Fenty — with her surname also the name of luxury fashion and cosmetics label she founded in 2019.
This year’s Met Gala theme was ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’, held at the city’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
However, the dress code edict laid down to guests was: Tailored for You.
Stylist Elliott Garnaut spoke about Rihanna’s pregnancy on Sunrise, suggesting the SOS hitmaker has made a habit out of leveraging public occasions to announce personal news.
“She’s no stranger to announcing a pregnancy in a public sphere, obviously,” he said.
“The last pregnancy was announced at the Super Bowl, so I can’t wait to see what she actually wears on the red carpet and how she dresses up that bump, because sometimes she covers it all up, and the other times it’s out on show.
“So, Rihanna, the icon that she is, I can expect nothing but perfection.”
The star is also known for her late appearances, with this no exception.
And the state in which she arrived, as well as her timing, now seems hardly a shock to Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
When asked prior to the event if anyone was allowed to rock up late, she responded simply, “Rihanna”.
