Rohit Sharma explained how small tweaks in his batting and keeping no self-doubt helped him comeback to form during the MI vs CSK clash on Sunday, April 20. Rohit scored 76 off just 45 balls as Mumbai crushed Chennai by 9 wickets in the IPL El Clasico to move to sixth in the points table.
Rohit was unable to convert some of his starts in the last few games, especially in the win over SRH as he was off to a flyer. Speaking at the post-match press conference, the MI legend said that a poor run of form like his could have caused self-doubt to creep in and make a player do things differently.

Rohit also revealed that he decided to hold his shape while playing his shots and extend his arms. The MI legend said that it was important to have a clear mindset while batting.
“Look after being here for such a long time. It is very easy to start doubting yourself, start getting worried and start doing different things. It was important for me to keep practicing and keep working hard. When you back yourself, things do happen. I know it has been a while but if you start to doubt yourself then you are only going to put pressure on yourself. Experience of being here for such a long time helps.”
“Look, it is important to balance out your innings. I wanted to hit the ball but it was important for me to hold my shape. Just extend my arms. Then if the ball is in my arc, then I will go after it. It may not help consistently but it is important to have clear mindset which is what I am trying to do,” said Rohit.

Rohit is all set to have a stand named after him at the Wankhede stadium soon and the MI legend was asked about hitting one of his sixes close to the proposed site. Rohit joked about the maximum before saying his intention was to bat through the innings.
Speaking about the stand, Rohit said it would be an emotional moment for him and was unsure about how he will react when it is finally unveiled.
“I don’t know about that. Looks pretty far that stand. What is satisfying for me is to bat through the innings. We know how IPL is, winning games back-to-back is important and we stand in a good position.”
“Yeah, it is a huge honour. I mentioned about it as a young kid. Used to watch the game, we were not allowed to enter the stadium. It is an emotional moment, whenever that happens, I am not sure how I am going to react,” said Rohit.
