Samsung has finally introduced its new flagship Galaxy S25 series. And just like every year, this year too we have 3 new Galaxy phones. These are the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the Galaxy S25+, and the vanilla S25. Now one device, if the rumours were anything to go by, was missing in this announcement. That is until the very end of the Unpacked 2025, the Samsung event where it launches its flagship phones. And this one was Galaxy S25 Slim, a name circulating in rumours for a while. But at the close of the event Samsung brought out a teaser of a new phone. This one is called the Galaxy S25 Edge.

In other words, the Galaxy S25 Slim exists. But it is now officially called the Galaxy S25 Edge.
What it will be, we do not know for sure for now. However, the teaser shown at the unpacked event shares the first look, showing a new Galaxy device with a flat design and two cameras at the rear. As for everything else, that’s for later.
But of course, here too rumours come to rescue. And we have seen that so far rumours around the Galaxy S25 series have turned out to be mostly accurate.
Going by these reviews it is safe to say that the galaxy S25 Edge is likely to come with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, plenty of RAM — say 12GB at least — and two rear cameras, one of which is expected to use the 200MP sensor that is also in the other flagship S25 phones, and another one is said to be a slimmed down periscope lens. It is also likely that the phone will have a 6.7-inch display, complete with top features like 120Hz refresh rate and extra high brightness.
But the main feature of the phone, which also gives the device its name, is the design of the phone. It is expected that the Galaxy S25 Edge is likely to be just 6.4mm slim.
Now, another rumour about the S25 Edge is that it is not going to be available anytime soon. While the other three S25 phones are going on sale from February 7, the S25 Edge is likely to be available for sale only from May and that too only in some countries. It is possible that in many countries, including in India, the phone might not even arrive.
Given that the S25 Edge is not launching along with the other S25 phones it seems like that the phone is an afterthought by Samsung, possible to counter the iPhone 17 Air that has also been in rumours for the last few months. It is almost certain that Apple is going to launch the iPhone 17 Air, a rather slim and petite iPhone later in September or October. Chances are that Samsung also wants to have a similarly slim-profile phone in its lineup.
As for the new Galaxy S25 series, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is leading the Samsung lineup with a larger 6.9-inch display, an upgraded camera setup featuring a 200-megapixel primary sensor and dual telephoto lenses, and the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset with advanced thermal management. The Galaxy S25 and S25+, meanwhile, retain the familiar designs from their predecessors and offer respective 6.2-inch and 6.7-inch displays.
